Our Winter Indoor 2026/27 registration is officially open! We are so excited to welcome you to our NEW ERA indoor programming!
We have made some major changes this year, and we believe this is shaping up to be our best winter season yet. With a more streamlined structure, new opportunities, and a renewed focus on athlete development, we are ready to keep growing the club and the sport we all love.

BACK TO PRO+ SPORTS!
We are excited to announce that we have secured the full season rental of Pro+ Sports in Monroeville!
And this time, ALL of our winter indoor programming will be at Pro+ Sports—not just our Elite teams!
With three full sport court indoor courts side by side, we have made the decision to centralize our programming into one location. This will allow athletes to train alongside one another, create a more natural progression through the club as their skills develop, and give everyone the opportunity to learn and grow together.

DEVELOPMENTAL → ADVANCED → ELITE & BOYS
DEVELOPMENTAL
If you are brand new to field hockey or have only played outdoor or indoor field hockey for a year, we recommend joining us for our Developmental Pittsburgh-only training.
These sessions are designed to introduce athletes to the basics of Indoor Field Hockey through simple skill lessons, guided scrimmages, and chalk talks explaining court positioning and the small variations between indoor and the outdoor game you play in school.
Our goal is to build confidence, develop foundational skills, and help athletes learn to love the indoor game. As athletes develop their skills and gain confidence, they will be prepared to progress into our Advanced program in future seasons.
ADVANCED
Our Advanced program is designed for athletes who have a foundation in field hockey and are ready to take the next step in their indoor development and compete in one-day tournaments.
Athletes will continue developing their indoor skills through structured training, guided scrimmages, and chalk talks focused on court positioning, game structure, and the differences between indoor and outdoor field hockey.
Throughout the season, Advanced athletes will have the opportunity to compete in one-day tournaments once a month in Monroeville, providing regular game experience without the need for extensive travel.
As athletes continue to develop and are ready for a higher level of competition, our goal is to help them progress through the program and ultimately compete for a spot on Venom Elite.
ELITE
VENOM ELITE is now better than ever!
Venom Elite is the highest skill level of training we offer, and we encourage all athletes who want to challenge themselves to try out. If you are not selected for Elite, you will be placed in our Advanced program and refunded the difference in registration cost.
This year, we have made a major decision to optimize our Elite programming and provide the best training environment possible. Our Elite programming is moving to Pro+ Sports, where we can continue our master teach system and take advantage of the new sport court facility.
U14, U16, and U19 will each have their own court to train and scrimmage together throughout the season. This will allow our teams to work alongside one another, develop their skills, and continue building toward the highest levels of competition.
ELITE TRYOUTS
Elite tryouts will be held at Pro+ Sports in Monroeville on October 17 and October 24. Athletes only need to attend one tryout date.
- U14: 2:00–4:00 PM
- U16: 4:00–6:00 PM
- U19: 6:00–8:00 PM
Athletes selected for Elite will receive an email after the October 24 tryout with their team placement. Selected athletes will have until October 27 to accept their Elite spot.
If an athlete is not selected for Elite, they will be placed in our Advanced program and invited to register for Advanced.
Our goal is to compete for a National Championship at the National Indoor Tournament (NITs). U16 and U19 teams must qualify through a regional National Indoor Tournament Qualifier (NITQ) held before the end of the season. If the team performs well enough at the NITQ, they will earn a spot at Nationals. The location and date of the NITQ will be announced shortly by USA Field Hockey.
U14 teams do not need to attend an NITQ and qualify automatically for Nationals upon team registration.
Please note that there is an additional cost for Nationals if a team qualifies.
BOYS
We are excited to introduce a dedicated Boys program this year!
We have created a dedicated time slot and space for boys to practice throughout the season, with the ultimate goal of attending NITs as a complete Pittsburgh boys team for the first time ever!
We will teach any boy who wants to pick up an indoor field hockey stick, develop their skills, and work toward the goal of a Nationals appearance.
PITTSBURGH INDOOR TOURNAMENTS
We are excited to announce that for the first time ever, Venom will be hosting our own Pittsburgh indoor tournaments! We have secured the time and space in Monroeville to bring more local competition opportunities to our athletes throughout the winter season.
By bringing more tournaments to Pittsburgh, we hope to create additional opportunities for our athletes while reducing some of the logistical challenges that come with winter travel.
We will be hosting tournaments throughout the season, and all Advanced, Elite, and Boys athletes will participate in them.

REGISTRATION DEADLINES
- A late registration fee of $50 will be added to all DEVELOPMENTAL, ADVANCED & BOYS registrations after October 16th. After October 24th, registrations will be placed on a waitlist.
- The ELITE Try-Out registration deadline is October, 15th 2026.
- Once you receive your ELITE invitation, you will have 48 hours to register.
