What is a Showcase Tournament?

Showcase tournaments are designed for athletes who are interested in playing field hockey at the NCAA level. Venom attends several recruiting showcases throughout the year, giving our athletes the opportunity to compete against strong teams from across the country and be seen by college coaches.

NCAA college coaches attend these events to evaluate club players and identify potential recruits for their programs. These tournaments provide athletes with an opportunity to compete in a high-level environment and connect with college programs they may be interested in.

Who Should Attend?

This showcase is a great opportunity for U19 athletes who are interested in playing NCAA field hockey and want to continue pursuing the college recruiting process. We will first be offering spots to our U19 athletes. We encourage any U19 player who is interested in being considered for the team to respond by Tuesday, August 18th. If we do not fill the team with U19 athletes, we will then open any remaining spots to U16 athletes. Because this is a U19 Intermediate-level team, we are looking for players who are comfortable competing at the U19 level and are committed to participating in the full showcase weekend.

Following registration, we will select the team based on the responses received. Once the team is selected, athletes will participate in 8 pre-tournament team practices during September, October, and November. These practices will focus on team development, tactical preparation, game situations, and building the chemistry necessary to compete successfully at the showcase.

Our coaches will provide guidance throughout the process, including tips for communicating with prospective college coaches and making the most of the 

showcase experience.

We encourage players attending the showcase to have a list of colleges they are interested in and to begin communicating with those programs before the tournament. Letting coaches know that you will be competing at the Shooting Star Showcase can help them identify you on the tournament schedule.

$575 per athlete

Tournament Information

Schedule: TBD

Friday: 8:00 AM–10:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM–10:00 PM
Sunday: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM

Detailed game schedules will be released approximately four weeks before the tournament.

• 5 pool games guaranteed
• 11v11
• 54-minute games – 25-minute first half, 4-minute halftime, 25-minute second half

Hotel

This tournament is NOT a stay-to-play tournament, so families may stay at whichever hotel they prefer.
